Pemphigus Vulgaris is an autoimmune mucocutaneous disease with endogenous production of antibodies that lead to the disintegration of transmembrane proteins present in epithelial desmosomes. It is a rare disease, with a prevalence of one to five cases per million people. Its first signs appear on the oral mucosa and, after weeks to months, there is the appearance of skin blisters that cause a burning sensation. For the diagnosis, histopathological findings are taken into account, such as acantholysis of keratinocytes in the suprabasal layer, and the Nikolsky sign, even if this is not pathognomonic. Treatment is usually based on systemic corticosteroids that work as immunosuppressants. The objective of this study was to report the case of a patient with pemphigus vulgaris diagnosed at the age of 32, as well as the clinical conduct and the evolution of the health care provided in the mountains of Santa Catarina / Brazil. From the analysis of this case, it is concluded that the patient presented with an atypical case of pemphigus, as her age was lower than what is commonly reported in the literature. Early diagnosis and effective treatment of pemphigus vulgaris improves the survival of patients with this disease.
